Editing Music Video (Narrative Scenes - Rivalry)

Later on in the song I show a hooded man walking while the camera is circling around him. I show several shots of this edited so that they are shown between the main performance of the music video. I have done this so that the audience question 'who is this?' and 'where are they going?'. I do this earlier on so that it can be before the viewer gets clues as to what is going on hear. The clues are shown through the deal scene.

I then have cut it to show the clues as to who the shadowed person is. This is where we see the relationship between the two characters goes wrong with one of them hustling the other within the deal that they are making.

I have then added in the face reveal of the man in the hoodie where the audience will recognise him as being the friend that got hustled.

After having who he is revealed I have shown the viewers what he is doing with the shot of this character getting a gun out from under his belt.

They then see that this character is out for revenge on his old friend who hustled him before when we see who he pulls the gun on.

I have edited this within this order to slowly allow the viewers to still be engaged with the video as they find out what was happening with the hooded character. Not knowing who he is until the end of the video.

I cross cut between this part of the narrative and the deal narrative so that the viewers would understand that they are both connected while giving some feel of tension to the music video. As both parts of the narrative are revealed at almost the same time it satisfies the viewer as they have been waiting for the answers to the narrative and are now able to put the pieces together. Engaging them with the music video more.
